Candy Crush 2.0 in Tula Pink

Candy Crush 2.0 in Tula Pink

So ... I'm scrolling on Instgram ... Shocking! I know! ... and I see these great quilts. All of them so different yet the same pattern. All products of a Quilt A Long presented by Natalie @sewhungryhippie. I had already missed the QAL but knew I would like to make one of these quilts for myself.

I ordered Natalie's pattern, Candy Crush 2.0. on her website www.sewhungryhippie.com and decided to use the beautiful jelly roll of fabrics by Tula Pink, from her True Colors line. www.tulapink.com

This pattern consists of 2.5 inch squares which is really fussy for me. I haven't made a quilt with such small squares in a long while but using a jelly roll cut down on a lot of the cutting.
Natalie's pattern is amazing and easy to follow. So even though the squares are small her technique makes the whole thing a lot less fussy and a lot of fun.
Natalie also has a tutorial on YouTube for this quilt.

I'm enjoying the process and looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!

Tula Pink fabrics ... SWOON!
Stay Tuned for my progress on my Candy Crush 2.0 (non) Quilt A Long!

Almost one month at my new job!
And, I love it!

Family Signature Quilt Update

Family Signature Quilt Update

Years and years ago my sister and I made Family Signature Quilts. I had read an article about vintage signature quilts and knew it was something I wanted to make.

I love my Family Signature Quilt. I love updating my Family Signature Quilt even more. My Family Signature is a beautiful record of my family and all of those whom I love.

We are family!!!

Sewing My Stash Scrap Quilt #14

Weekend Fun!

On Saturday I was able to finish my 14th scrap quilt top!

I really need to get some of the finished quilt tops ready (make the backings) for machine quilting.
I have A LOT of quilt tops that I need to quilt and bind.

I love piecing quilts ... I absolutely love it!

Quilts and Family

Quilts and Family

Needless to say many of the quilts that I make ... I make for my family members.

I always love it when I see the quilts in pictures that my family share with me. My sister is especially great about sharing pictures of my quilts in use.

T-shirt quilts, baby quilts, quilts as wedding gifts, quilts as graduation gifts, pillows and quilt racks full of quilts that I have made.
There is nothing better than family!

Sewing My Stash Scrap Quilt #14

Sewing My Stash Scrap Quilt #14

This is my 14th scrap quilt - I'm using the jelly rolls of scraps that I've made.

Whenever I finish up a quilt I usually end up with a pile of scrap strips. So, I sew them end to end and make my very own jelly rolls. As it turned out I ended up with a bowl full of scrappy jelly rolls.

I decided to cut 12 inch strips and sewing them together!

I absolutely love how this SMS Scrap Quilt #14 is turning out!
There will be borders of course and possible sashing between the strips.
Still working it out in my head!

Crescent II

 Crescent II

I had two of the Crescent fabric panels ...

I finished making the first quilt top back in July of this year. I followed the pattern above to the letter. And it is a beautiful quilt top.

For the second quilt top I used black fabric for the stars and the panel came with quilt labels that I trimmed and used to make the smaller stars.

I love how it all turned out. There were two extra motifs (the owl and the unicorn) so I decided to use them in my second quilt top. I love how this quilt top turned out.

So with the second quilt top I made a few changes to make it my own. I also wanted to use all of the really cute art motifs used on the quilt labels.

Oh So Fancy

Oh so fancy ...

I love patterns by Elizabeth Hartman HERE
I have made several of her quilt patterns and they are all written so well.
Her Fancy Fox II pattern was the same.

The problems I had with this quilt were of my own making ...
you know how some times an idea for a quilt or project looks better in your head than it does in real life???

Well ... I chose a background fabric that I thought would be so fun and ...

IT WASN'T!!!!!
Not to mention that I had pieced one of the blocks (the eyes in the bottom left fox) incorrectly!
Ugh!!! I put the blocks away for over a month. All I could see was an hour our two of seam ripping.

So ...
I purchased a beautiful blue KONA solid (Pacific blue) and got busy with my seam ripper - totally dissembling my little fancy fox faces! I also fixed the eyes on the one fox that I had pieced incorrectly.
It was a busy Saturday!

Fancy Fox II
60 x 72 inches
The solid background is so much better.

Labor Day Weekend

 Labor Day Weekend

Three day weekends are always so wonderful! It makes me wish that all weekends were three day weekends!

I had a wonderful time in my sewing room. I only left my house for a grocery pick up, the rest of the weekend I spent puttering around my house and in my sewing room.

I made sugar cookies, cleaned out my refrigerator, pieced the batting needed for 4 quilt projects, and just enjoyed the days off.

Watching Harry Potter in my sewing room on holiday weekends has become tradition!

I began working on my second Crescent quilt top. Although I am following the pattern for this quilt top I am changing it up a bit. I'm using black fabric for the stars.

I still have a ways to go on this one. I still need to make the larger stars, although not pictured here, I have completed all of the small stars needed for this quilt top.

The quilt panel came with these cute printed quilt labels - I decided to fussy cut those label and use the cute motifs in the center of the small stars. I'm loving these little stars.

This quilt project just feels like Fall!
I'm ready for Fall.
