Little Red (and White) Houses

 Little Red (and White) Houses

This one is going to be a labor of love ...
Red/White quilt LOVE!!

I've pieced all of the rows, I will be stenciling on the motifs that I want to embroider, then I will piece all of the rows together.
There wil also be a border.
Yep, a labor of LOVE

Little Comforts

 Little Comforts

I had a wonderful evening enjoying a few of my favorite most comforting and relaxing pleasures.

For the past few evening after a long day at work, traffic getting home, and a quick dinner, I've been spending time looking through some of my quilting books.
It is the perfect way to center myself and just relax.

Peppermint tea in one of my favorite cups.

Last night I binged a bit of Netflix, The Crown", season 6

Joyful Little Treat

 Joyful Little Treat

Recently I quit drinking coffee because it makes my stomach hurt. I've switched over to drinking tea in the mornings and I feel much better. That being said, I do miss coffee.

While grocery shopping this past weekend I decided to purchase some hot chocolate and came across this Stephen's White Chocolate cocoa mix. It was on the very top shelf ... and a few items over was the instant coffee.

Hmmmm ....

Y'all ...

Make the hot cocoa per package directions then add a teaspoon of the French Roast instant coffee.

Ooooh La La ... a wonderful delicious joyful little treat ...

Just do it ... you can thank me later!

Easter Basket 2024 Update

 Easter Basket 2024 Update

For the first time since starting this Easter Basket journey I am making a practice basket. I won't lie ... my crocheting skills get sluggish from year to year because I don't do a lot of crocheting in between. So this year I decide to make a practice basket in order to brush up on my crochet skills.

For the basket, I wanted to try a new pattern that adds texture to the basket.
This is the bobble stitch.

This flower is supposed to be a rose but looks more like a carnation to me.
Again, with this flower I'm learning more about scalloped edges.

I'm looking at You Tube tutorials that will teach me how to make a wondering vine with leaves that has a bit of a 3-D effect.

I will keep you posted.

Once this basket is complete, I'm considering putting it up for sale.

Homesteading - Gardening

 Homesteading

My goal is to mold my little plot of dirt into a sustainable little homestead. Presently that consists of learning about food. Learning how to cook, can foods, and bake from scratch.

Over the years I have also been working on gardening a bit. One year I helped my brother in his garden. I have my own small herb garden. I have also been reading about homesteading and gardening. This past weekend I built my first raised bed garden.
This raised bed was a gift from my dear friend whom also helped me put it together.

Getting ready for spring.

Scrap Box

 Scrap Box

As most know, I have a box of red and white scrap fabrics. This box always contains scrap fabrics but at times it will also contain test blocks from other projects. Orphan blocks, partially pieced blocks and swatches of fabrics also reside in the scrap box. From time to time I try to make something from the scrap box.

With the time change this past week, I decided I wanted to work on establishing a more productive morning routine ... so I turned to my Scrap Box for some inspiration.

I've been seeing this block quite a lot on social media these days and decided I wanted to try my hand making it.
The name of this block is Bear Paw

Not bad for a box of scraps and a few mornings of piecing.
I was able to make 8 blocks from the scraps that I had in the box. These blocks will be in the box ... waiting for more scraps and more morning piecing.

Weekend

 Weekend

My weekends tend to consist of darts at the lodge and my sewing room ... it's an excellent combination of fun, friends, and the solitude of my happy place.

Just don't get much better than that, in my opinion.

💞💞💞

I LOVE WEEKENDS!!!
