Spring here in East Tennessee has been chilly and warm all at the same time. It has been glorious.

I received my new Lodge cards, the cards are for entry into the Lodge and the pool. 

I also received the new 2026 mahjongg cards!

I love games and puzzles and coloring in coloring books. I feel very fortunate that I grew up before iPhones, computers, and social media.

I have been enjoying working on a puzzle in the evenings as of late. Relaxing my mind one puzzle piece at a time.

No internet, computer, or iPhone required.

Just brain power and the pleasure of simple relaxing play.

For a couple of years now I have been interested in learning how to play Chess. Fortunately for me, I work with a young man who has offered to teach me how to play.

We have been playing chess on our lunch break, in the break room after we finish our lunch. Chess is an extremely complex game ... to me at any rate. Boy, do I have a lot to learn!

Years ago I was part of a group of ladies who played mahjongg one Thursday evening a month. As things often do, people and circumstances change and the group dissolved.

Well, it looks as though another Mahjongg group is in the works. There are a few original players and even more new players. I'm really excited about this new group and the opportunity to play the wonderful game of Mahjongg again.

Bowling league with family and friends is a routine I cherish. Just being together and enjoying each others company is the best part for me but that's not to say that I don't enjoying WINNING!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of teaching and playing mahjongg with two very good friends. And just like that, I'm back in the game.

My youngest came in for a visit over the weekend and I have had the best time.

We've had the best time just hanging out. We've gone recliner shopping, eaten out, watched Master's of the Air on Apple TV, gone bowling and talked and laughed and talked and laughed some more.

BINGO, cocktails, darts, and a fish fry.

I didn't get photos of the dart tournament or the fish fry but both were excellent.

I didn't win one single game of BINGO but as always I enjoyed it so much.

I tried a new cocktail and it was delicious, and it tasted very much like Butterfinger candy bar. One of my personal favorite candy bars.

It was a great weekend with friends at the lodge.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love games. I love card games, board games, dice games, all games ...

Recently I saw an event here locally on the first Wednesday evening of the month, Beginners Chess! As much as I love games, I've never considered myself "smart" enough to play chess. Well no more, this coming Wednesday evening I'm going to this offered event and learn how to play chess.

I purchased this beginners guide and I've been reading up on the rules, placement of the chess pieces, and the directions that they move.

I love learning how to do new things but when that new thing is a GAME!

Social Bowling League

It's that time of year for sign ups! There are 4 - 8 week leagues ... Fall, Late Fall, Winter, and Spring. Our team, the Lucky Strikes, is all signed up for the Late Fall league. Each league we select a different color t-shirt. As I was putting away my last league t-shirt, I realized that I have been bowling since January 2019!

WOW!!!

In 2020 there is only 1 shirt as that was the year of COVID and obviously there was no social bowling (or anything else social) going on.

As I begin our team online, during the sign up process each league (season) I have been the one who picks out our shirt color. 

OBVIOUSLY, I NEED TO DO BETTER!

hahahahahaha!

Ultimately, I plan to make a T-Shirt quilt out of all of my bowling t-shirts.

Time is flying by ... August is behind us ... summer 2023 has come to a close ... and we are now in the middle of September ...

In August my baby boy and his beautiful bride came to visit us for the weekend!

My son, Beau (my grandpup), and my son's beautiful bride.

Life here is my sewing room and beyond really IS so very sweet!

I love my home, I love my family, I love my friends. I'm grateful for my health and the ability to get out and about.

Friday night I got out and about with my friends for a dart tournament at the Lodge.

We all had a blast.

We also won the dart tournament!

It was a rainy evening but we were able to eat, have a beer, watch a game (that we lost) before the sky opened up and dumped A LOT of rain.

I love games, I love to play games, and I believe my favorite game of all time is ... Mahjongg!

For awhile it was my mission to teach every single person I knew how to play this wonderful game. There was a time when there was a group of ladies that I played mahjongg with every Thursday evening. Those were some great times.

Things change, people change, priorities change ... and the Thursday Evening group dwindled down to just a few people who played every now and again.

I did teach my daughter and she would play with us occasionally.

I miss this game so much!

It's been sometime since I last played mahjongg ... it is my greatest hope that I will one day be able to play this game again regularly. 

I used to order the cards for the game yearly. It was something that I looked forward to doing and receiving in the mail. I enjoyed see what the new runs (hands) for the year looked like.

I have not ordered mahjongg cards this year ... sadly ...

Transitioning Into Spring

 Transitioning Into Spring

I am fortunate to live in an area that has the four distinct seasons. Now of course we have Blackberry Summer, Dogwood Winter, and several other seasons here too!

But at the moment we are transitioning from winter into spring. This past weekend we sprang forward in Daylight savings time. From what I understand this will be the last time change into Daylight savings time. Going forward this will be Eastern time with no more time changes.

Bowling and Reading

Around here ... one day it is 70 degrees and the next day is 40 degrees!

So ... indoor activities are in order. Thank goodness for my social bowling league and my kindle.
