Work Space Decor

 Work Space Decor

My work space is a cubicle, a well used cubicle that is a beige color. So I enjoy decorating my cubicle to reflect my personality and the seasons.

On Monday of this week I changed the decor to a more spring like look.

The scrappy patchwork quilt draped over the back of the "blue chair" in this picture was the quilt that was hanging in my cubicle until I changed it up.
Being the quilt I chose for my wintery cozy cubicle decor.

The scrappy patchwork quilt is from a pattern by,

I chose the Denim and Lace quilt that I finished last year for my spring time cubicle decor.
This quilt was a quilt kit from Westwood Acres Fabric

Work space cubicles do not have to be drab and colorless, especially if you are a quilter in real life ...

Binding

 Binding

I have a pile of quilts that I need to put binding on. Binding a quilt is my least favorite part of the quilting process but I love when it is completed and I have a finished quilt.

All of these quilt projects are quilt tops that have been completed for at least two years. One of my goals this year is to get all of my finished quilt tops quilted and bound.

I love the machine quilting on this one and the backing is just perfect.

Sewing My Stash #15 - Easy Patchwork QAL

72 x 72 inches
I love scrap quilts and scrappy patchwork quilts are AWESOME!
And, the backing of bearded dudes makes me smile and think of my first son and child who has an awesome beard.
💙💙💙

Sewing My Stash #18 - Batiks
70 x 85 inches

This quilt is made up of all of the batiks fabric that I had on hand. When I first started quilting I absolutely loved Batiks. Batiks are still beautiful fabrics but I'm not as interested in those fabrics these days.
All the same this scrap quilt turned out nicely.

Backings - Easy Patchwork QAL with Sew Hungry Hippie

 Backings

I'm on a roll ... there have been some great fabric sales going on lately!

Easy Patchwork Quilt A Long

I joined this QAL (quilt a long) last year. I end up with a lot of fabric scraps and this seemed like a perfect way to use some of them.

Natalie at sewhungryhippie.com is so inspiring.

I love this backing fabric ... it reminds me of a bearded boy I know!

This backing fabric is, Dear Stella Fabrics, Chop It Like It's HOT (white)

Backings

I'm always on the lookout for clearance fabric sales mostly for yardage for backings for my completed quilt tops. It is rare that I spend more than $5.00 a yard for backing fabric yardage. I'm not saying that I haven't spent more but as a rule of thumb I try to keep cost down when choosing yardage for backing fabrics.

The search for backing fabrics is made a bit more difficult by the added rule of keeping cost down and my need to stick with the theme of the quilt top, but I love the challenge!

Stack-O-Quilt

 Stack-O-Quilts

I love getting quilts back from my longarm quilter! She does amazing work! I am always so excited to get my quilts back.

There are three sewing my stash quilts, one red/white quilt, and one QAL quilt in this beautiful stack. Hours and hours of sewing room bliss in this cute little stack of quilts.

Candy Crush 2.0
@sewhungryhippie pattern and 2021 QAL
This quilt is my 2021 Halloween quilt. I've never been much of a holiday themed quilt person but for that last couple of years I have made a Halloween themed quilt.
2020 - Ghosts!
2021 - Candy Crush 2.0 - Skull

It feels really great to get these quilts quilted and finished. I feel like some of these quilts have been on my Completed Quilt Tops list for a very long time. Out of the 22 completed quilt tops on that list - 9 are now done. Just 13 more to go! My only sewing room goal for 2022 is to finish all of the quilts on my completed quilt tops list. I will have 22 finished quilts in 2022!

I finished hand quilting my Modern Maple Leaf quilt this year, which was a huge goal for me. I have been working on that quilt since 2016!
WOW!!

It has been a very productive year in my sewing room. Over the years I've been making scrap quilts for my fabric stash and that will continue. Then there is my obsession with Red/White quilts and this year I really dove into making quilts that I have always wanted to make. I joined a few quilt-a-longs with a few of my favorite fabric designers. It has been such a fun and relaxing year in my sewing room. So much so that have 20 completed quilt tops that I need to get quilted and bound.

Red/White Mugs Quilt

 Red/White Mugs Quilt

30 of the 31 blocks that I made for this quilt project.
As I mentioned a few days ago, this quilt top required 56 mug blocks - I got to 31 one blocks and lost my steam for this project.

This project languished in the bottom of my closet for almost a year. As I'm on vacation this week, I decided to revisit some of the projects hanging out in the bottom of my sewing room closet.
My sister suggested that I piece the top with an empty shelf ... and although I did try that ... it was just to much negative space for me.

I am not unhappy with these cute little cups (mugs)

I decided on 9 Patch Corners and thick borders.
As you can see there are various shades of white fabrics used ... that is because 1) I started this quilt project last year, 2) I'm sewing my stash and using the fabrics I have on hand.
Therefore ... the various shades of white in this quilt top.
The quilt top finishes at 66 x 66 inches square.

My daughter got me an Advent Calendar from

https://www.stitchsupplyco.com

And, I love it! As my birthday is in December this is the perfect gift for me.
A sewing/quilting themed Advent Calendar
This year there have been a lot of personalized gifts, labels, an ornament, and this cute personalized stamp for labeling the things that I make. I love it! So far this is my favorite little advent calendar gift.

Red / White Mugs Quilt

Red/White Mugs Quilt

I started this quilt as part of a quilt a long over a year ago. I totally lost steam on this quilt. I didn't enjoy making the mug blocks.  The blocks were tedious to cut out and to piece and I just didn't enjoy the process. I made 31 of the 56 blocks needed for this quilt and put the whole thing in a bag at the bottom of my closet!

😑😑😑

Now what to do with this mess of mugs!

It's time to get out my graph paper and figure out a ways to piece this mess of mugs into some kind of quilt top. Wish me luck!

Fall 2021

Fall 2021

We have had a few delightfully cooler fall feeling days. Mid 60s during the day and mid 40s during the nights and mornings. I am loving it. Yesterday was a rainy morning but the afternoon was beautiful blue skies with puffy clouds.

The leaves are changing and falling but the grass is still green.

I finished my Easy Patchwork QAL quilt top @sewhungryhippie on instagram
I enjoyed making this quilt top so much.
I've enjoyed looking through my fabric scraps and this quilt top just makes me smile.

Pajama pants fabrics ...

I have 20 completed quilt tops ... 20 ...  I have 5 quilts presently at my friend Sharon's for longarm machine quilting. Three more ready to take to Sharon for quilting. I have 1 quilt ready for binding and I am presently hand-quilting 1 quilt ... needless to say ...

It is time to switch it up, so I purchased a pattern to make some pajama pants. I'm thinking about making some zipper pouches and tote bags too.
