March A Blur

 March A Blur

March flew by in a blur ... lots of birthdays to celebrate, a bit of sock knitting, quilting, a little doll making, watercolor painting, and spring cleaning.

1888 Singer Hand-Crank Sewing Machines

 1888 Singer Hand-Crank Sewing Machines

Earlier in the week I had the greatest pleasure of getting to see two of the most beautiful sewing machines. The detail ... they are amazing. I even had the pleasure of sewing a few lines of perfectly uniform stitches.

Every detail of these machines are an absolute MASTERPIECE!

Mojo

Mojo

I haven't been very successful in my sewing room as of late ...

I've lost my MOJO!!!

I've had this Churn Dash project on my design wall for a few weeks now, after taking the Denim & Lace project down ...

The Churn Dash project wasn't doing it for me either ... so I took it down over the weekend.

On Sunday morning I started cutting this fabrics for this project ...

I purchased this cute pattern ...

I purchased the 2023 Quilter's Planner ... I wasn't going to purchase one this year, but I missed it so much.

Taking the steps to get my quilting mojo back ... I miss my sewing room and all of the good creative energy that it provides my soul.
I'm thrilled to have my 2023 Quilter's Planner ... I love it!

Denim & Lace Update

Denim & Lace Update

Somehow this project stalled my quilting mojo DEAD IN IT'S TRACKS!

It is a wonderful quilt project, it is a great pattern, the fabrics are amazing ... but after getting 6 of the 12 blocks pieced my enthusiasm for this project just DIED!

This project has been on my design wall for over 2 months.
I finally took it down and packed the entire project away to revisit another day.

I'm looking forward to getting back in my sewing room. Now that this project is off of my design wall I'm looking forward to getting back into my sewing room.

Sewing Room

Sewing Room

I haven't been in my sewing room in AGES!!!
I've think I have lost my mojo!!!
I've been so busy with the holidays, Thanksgiving and now all of the Christmas activities, that I haven't made a lot of time for sewing. I've been knitting a bit but no sewing.
I won't lie! I miss it!
I have a few vacation days coming up and I plan to spend some time in my sewing room then. All things ebb and flow, I will be back to my sewing room soon

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas

This and That

 This and That

I'm presently finishing things ... quilt projects ... updating ... mending ...

I updated my family signature quilt. I had made the block months ago but hadn't sewn it on to my quilt yet.

I repaired my mahjongg purse. There was a small rip and growing hole along the seam.

I was very happy to get this little mending project completed. I love my little mahjongg purse. I purchased it at a Catholic Church thrift shop in Valdosta, Georgia years ago on one of my wonderful Lake Park vacations.

I love these compression gloves ... and lately I have needed them even when I'm not in my sewing room.

Joint pain is the pits!!!!

Busy Busy Busy

 Busy Busy Busy

As you know ... May totally got away from me ... I've been so busy ... busy in a good way! I've been knitting, crocheting, quilting, handbag making, bowling, swimming, playing darts, and visiting with folks!

It's been great getting out and about again! It feels like summer!

On the sewing ... handbag making front ... I made the Lola Purse from the Zombie Lola kit that I purchased from Natalie @sewhungryhippie.

If you would like to get a kit, you can get one HERE.

I had a little trouble with the zipper but I think it turned out great!
I love it!

I'm relatively new to making handbags. I've made several totes and larger bags that didn't have zippers or pockets on the inside. It is my goal to get better at handbag making.
I'm very interested in bag construction. For a few years know I've thought about making my own quilted luggage. GOALS!

And, who doesn't love baby yoda fabric for the lining of their new handmade handbag??

It's been great getting out and about again! It feels like summer!

On the quilting front ... I started the Legendary quilt kit by Elizabeth Hartman.

I purchased the kit which included the pattern. I love all of the fabric choices. Unfortunately I can't remember who I purchased the KIT from, I will update here if I figure out who I ordered this from ... sorry ...

I spent an entire Sunday binge watching Netflix and cutting out all of the pattern pieces. I've made a couple of Elizabeth Hartman's patterns and for me cutting out all of the pattern pieces up front makes it so much easier. Easier for me at any rate. I use index cards to label the pieces.

My Legendary forest begins ...

I love all of these happy little trees (insert Bob Ross's voice here)!

Hand Quilting

 Hand Quilting

This is my Modern Maple Leaf quilt and I have been hand-quilting this quilt for at least 5 years. I used to hand-quilt all of my quilts but then meet a wonderful long-arm machine quilter and started sending my quilt tops out for quilting.

I've always enjoyed hand-quilting, it is a very relaxing activity. And, I love big stitch hand quilting so much.

It is my goal to finish hand quilting this quilt in 2022 and to start hand-quilting more of my projects as well. I do enjoy hand quilting and some quilts just need to be hand quilted.

Bounty

 Bounty

Birthday and Christmas Bounty

I received an Advent Calendar for my birthday and it was amazing.
All of these sweet gifts came in the calendar.

A month full of surprises and inspiration.
Kick starting 2022 creating in my sewing room.

And, this little beauty ... my heart is full!
I've been eyeballing this little iron for over a year now. The only reason I didn't buy it for myself is because the iron I have still works!

Pajama Pants Sewing 101

 Pajama Pants Sewing 101

Wow!!! I did it! I made a pair of pajama pants!

This is a easy pattern ... I could actually figure it out without to much difficulty.

I was so nervous cutting into the fabric with the pattern piece on it. But, I just re-read the instruction and went for it.

It was a bit nerve wracking ... but I managed to cut out the pattern pieces correctly.

I cut the medium size but the next pair I make will be the small size and I didn't cut the elastic for the waist correct. I should have cut it 1 inch smaller than my waist size instead of 1 inch larger than my waist size.

I even had a pair of pinking shears to trim the seams.

But all in all for my first time sewing clothing ... pajama pants, in general. Following a pattern and sewing up my very first sewing project.

I'm really really happy with the results.
