2026 Easter Basket

 2026 Easter Basket

This year's Easter Basket is especially SPECIAL!

I'm going to be a GRANDMA!!!

💖💖💖

Our Family is joyously expanding.
Not only is my daughter expecting but my daughter-in-law is also expecting.
Two healthy baby boys are due to arrive in the Fall.

I started making this year's Easter Basket as I knew my daughter was expecting but, long before I knew my daughter-in-law was also expecting.

I am doubly blessed and so incredibly grateful!

Granny Squares Project

 Granny Squares Project

I started a new crochet project ... Granny Squares. It may be a pillow, a tote bag, or a blanket. At the moment I'm just making the squares. I've made granny squares before. I made a pillow with the few granny squares I had made. Granny squares are fun to make and after search YouTube for tutorials I've found there are many granny squares variations.

More Crochet - Pretty Pink Balloon Animal

 More Crochet

Pretty Pink Balloon Animal

With the winter storm predicted ... and didn't arrive, I spent my weekend crocheting the new pattern I had purchased the week prior.

I purchased the pattern on Etsy from @KnotMonster
The pattern is well written and was fun to crochet.

I won't lie ... it took me over an hour to figure out how to twist it into the actual balloon animal. HAHAHA!!!!

In the end if finally figured it out and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Caveman? Troll?

I finished this crochet pattern over the weekend. Such a fun project and so darn cute.

I love his little freckles! 💖
The book pattern is for a troll but all I see is a happy little caveman.

More Crochet

 More Crochet

Several years ago I purchased a crochet book on Amazon (see below) but not until recently did I feel as though I had the skills to try any of the patterns.

Recently I challenged myself to try one of the patterns from the book. This cute little baby bumble bee. Then I moved on to begin another pattern from the book.

This cute little troll, I still need to complete his arms, ears, and face.
This book is very well written and the patterns are so cute and easy to understand and follow.
I'm enjoying the process so much!

Getting Ahead of Myself

Getting Ahead of Myself

Another Easter Basket with a different theme.

Recently, I purchased a crochet pattern from ALL FROM JADE  , this pattern designer has some of the cutest patterns. If you crochet I hope you will check out her Esty shop. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased the Jellyfish pattern and it is a great pattern, the instructions are spot on and written so well. I just couldn't resist not starting another Easter Basket with her jellyfish as the theme.

I have included the Red Heart yarns that I used for the jellyfish and for the basket that I have crocheted along with the link to Jade's pattern.

This one has been a lot of fun crocheting. I may just keep this Easter Basket for myself. It's just so stinkin' cute!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail and his Entourage

Here Comes Peter Cottontail and his Entourage

This year has definitely been the year of yarn arts in my journey of textile artistry as opposed to my quilting passions.

Why? I haven't a clue ... it has just seemed to work out that way this year.

I began working on my daughter's 2026 Easter Basket a few weeks ago, in the midst of wrapping Christmas gifts I began crocheting the coming year's Easter Basket.

Yeah, yeah ... I'm all over the place.

Every year I choose a theme for the Easter Basket and this year I decided on an actual Easter theme ... an Easter Bunny

But once I got started I realized there is rarely just one bunny and decided that Peter Cottontail surely has an entourage of colorful bunnies.

I still have to crochet the basket handle and a few extra details to my design.

Easter 2025

 Easter 2025

We celebrated Easter with lunch at Olive Garden, champagne cocktails, and an afternoon crocheting together.

I loved every minute of it.

2025 Crocheted Easter Basket
Sugar Skulls
And a bit of Easter basket bounty.

My girl has caught the crochet bug and she is going like gangbusters!
Makers gonna make!

I worked on crocheting a few pastel color eggs since we didn't color eggs this year.

Proof that my girl enjoyed her Easter basket bounty.
It was a wonderful day.
Thanks be to God

Temperature Blanket 2025

 Temperature Blanket 2025

At the new year I began noting the temperature high for the day. Initially I began doing this as part of my journaling.

Above are the yarns that I chose for my temperature blanket.
It has been so cold here that I will need to stock up on the first 4 colors of yarn already!

I used masking tape to mark the temperature range on each color of yarn.

White will be used to begin and end the blanket. I will also be used to divid the months.
The temperature ranges are as follows

0 - 19 degrees
20 - 29 degrees
30 - 39 degrees
40 - 49 degrees
50 - 59 degrees
60 - 69 degrees
70 - 79 degrees
80 - 89 degrees
90 - 99 degrees
100 + degrees

When I began noting the daily temperature, making a Temperature Blanket was not my goal but now it is. Temperature blankets are not my idea by any means. People have been making these for years and years. Quilters are also making Temperature Quilts.

Emotional Support Chicken

 Emotional Support Chicken

My daughter signed us up for a class to crochet Emotional Support Chickens and yesterday afternoon we completed our chickens!

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun we have had crocheting our chickens!
The class was sponsored by The Bees Knits
An amazing local yarn shop.

The pattern for making an Emotional Support Chicken can be found HERE
on Ravelry

My daughter is already working on her second Emotional Support Chicken.
Who knows ... we may end up with a chicken coop full of crocheted Emotional Support Chickens.

Easter Baskets

Easter Baskets

I enjoy crocheting an Easter Basket for my daughter each year. I pick a theme and go from there. This year a theme is eluding me. That being the case, I've decided to just start crocheting a basket.

I just picked up a skein of yarn and started crocheting.

The basket and handle are now complete and an idea for a theme is forming.
I will keep you posted!

Easter Basket - 2024

 Easter Basket 2024

During the Big Snow of 2024 we ended up with a couple of snow days. So I decided to begin practicing and working on my daugher's 2024 Easter Basket.

I've been practicing on flowers and I made a basket with a texture pattern called the Bobble stitch.

As my girl is into dinosaurs ... I decided on that as the theme for the 2024 Easter Basket.

This pattern is, Timothy the T-Rex by bluephone studios.

It is a great pattern and has come together really quickly.

Easter Basket 2024 Update

 Easter Basket 2024 Update

For the first time since starting this Easter Basket journey I am making a practice basket. I won't lie ... my crocheting skills get sluggish from year to year because I don't do a lot of crocheting in between. So this year I decide to make a practice basket in order to brush up on my crochet skills.

For the basket, I wanted to try a new pattern that adds texture to the basket.
This is the bobble stitch.

This flower is supposed to be a rose but looks more like a carnation to me.
Again, with this flower I'm learning more about scalloped edges.

I'm looking at You Tube tutorials that will teach me how to make a wondering vine with leaves that has a bit of a 3-D effect.

I will keep you posted.

Once this basket is complete, I'm considering putting it up for sale.
