Over the weekend I spent a little time crocheting Hogwarts Sorting Hats for my grandsons. Because ... that's what Grandmas do ... Right?

As of late I haven't actually spent a lot of time sewing in my new sewing space but I am taking the time to get things organized.

I purchase cards used to keep comic books in pristine condition as mini bolts to hold my fabric stash. Carding my fabrics on these mini bolts has been both fun and tedious. Fun because I am finding fabrics I completely forgot that I had and tedious because there is a lot of pressing and folding of said fabrics. Only now am I realizing how extensive my fabric stash actually is ...

I am also coming across fabrics and notions that have been gifted to me over the years and my heart is full.

Needless to say organizing is an eye opening process for sure ...

I am blessed and humbled by the process of organizing my sewing room.

We spent a wonderful day celebrating my daughter and baby boy. Have I mentioned I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!

It was a beautiful afternoon celebrating. The shower was a success!

The lovely lady with my daughter who made this baby shower happen and provided the most beautiful and delicious food for everyone to enjoy.

I did get a video of the beautiful spread of amazing and delicious food but not a picture. I did however get a picture of the beautiful cookies made especial for the celebration.

It was a wonderful day with friends and family celebrating the upcoming arrival of my GRANDSON!

Sewing my stash, I'm really enjoying this block a day that I have challenged myself with.

 

All Set Up

 All Set Up

I finally have my sewing space all set up. The extension tables were a glitch, IKEA sent the table tops but none of the legs or hardware to attach them to the shelving.

But it is now all complete and I love it!

I finished piecing my daughter's baby's quilt top today and this set up is so nice and making sewing very comfortable.

My friend and fellow quilter, Jo, has let me borrow a book that has 365 quilt block patterns in it. Jo has made many of the blocks and the one who gave me the inspiration to do the same. This will be a nice way to continue sewing through my fabric stash.

There is a glitch though, this copy of the book has several pages missing. Instead of 365 blocks there are only 346 block patterns in this copy of the book. So if I want to make 365 blocks ... I will have to either make 19 of the patterns twice, or ad lib 19 blocks from other books I have.

It has been a hot minute since I finished this quilt top, but recently I was able to get it machine quilted. Again, my very talented longarm quilter and friend Jo, worked her magic yet again and I have yet another quilt that now needs to be bound. 

2.5 inch squares - for a 60 x 60 inch quilt

The machine quilting is just amazing and I love how it turned out.

I am so happy with this quilt project for a number of reasons

1. It is a sewing my stash quilt project

2. It is a red and white quilt project ... my obsession continues

3. The machine quilting is amazing

4. My very talented friend Jo quilted this quilt and I gave her free reign on the quilting design(s) and I love it!

Baby Boy's Room

Things are coming together in the nursery. Yesterday, the rocking chair arrived which was the last of the furniture to arrive.

My daughter has done an amazing job putting all of this furniture together. 

Now, it is time to at the finishing touches and decor to this room before the baby arrives.

Jasper The Friendly Kitty

 Jasper the Friendly Kitty

The friendliest kitty I know ...  Jasper is one of my daughter's cats. He is a funny little fellow. Jasper is a male calico and did you know that for a male cat to have a calico pattern, the feline has to have three sex chromosomes: two Xs and a Y. This phenomenon can happen in both humans and animals and is, in either case, known as Klinefelter syndrome. Jasper also has a stub of a tail. He is the cutest funny little thing.

He's a shy guy, so when he showed up in my bedroom and crawled onto my lap I was really surprised.

I was surprised and very happy that he is finally getting comfortable enough around me to stop in for a little snuggle. 

He's a sweet little soul.

I'm making quilts for my new grandsons. Over the July 4th holiday weekend I was able to finish one of the quilt tops.

I used a pattern that I have made before and I love how this has turned out. 

The fabric theme is Outerspace and this quilt turned out so cute.

The parents of my grandsons picked out the fabrics that I am using to make these quilts which makes it all the more special.

This morning 4th of July morning, my daughter and I went for a 3D ultrasound to see the baby boy.

Technology is simply amazing! The baby was very active and we got a lot of pictures of him. There are even a couple of 5D photos that were emailed to my daughter.

I am in total awe of these pictures. It's a very profound feeling for me to get to see my grandson before he even arrives. I am so blessed and grateful for these photos.

I forgot to post my monthly first of the month banner post. We are in the midst of at heatwave and the heat is ... well, it's miserable.

Suba-boo

 Suba-Boo!

Meet my new car, a Subaru Crosstrek! My daughter has named her Suba-boo because she is ghostly white.

My previous ride was a White 2012 Ford Escape named Pearl and I rode the wheels off of that ride! Which was always the plan as I have enjoyed years and years of not having a car payment, but it was well past time of needing a new car. The maintenance was becoming quite expensive and the Ford was becoming unreliable. So needless to say, I am very happy with my new ride!

I have been looking at Subarus for more than a few years and although the Foresters and Outbacks are beautiful, I kept seeing and looking at the Subaru Crosstreks.

Obviously I have a particular fondness for white cars.

I love my new car, she drives and rides like a dream.

She comes with all of the new technology, technology that I won't lie, will take some getting used to. Needless to say going from a 2012 car that actually used a key to start to a 2026 that has a button and key fob situation is very different.

We Are Family

 We Are Family

Yesterday afternoon we had our first family visit in our new home. My nephew and his beautiful family came by to see us and our new home. It was a great evening visiting.

It makes me very happy to have family in our new home. I hope this is the first of many family visits. I've had several friends over already and I hope there will be many more visits from both family and friends.

New house, new sewing space ... it's all beginning to come together. I'm looking forward to many happy hours in our new home and my new sewing space.

Not the final configuration of notions but getting everything visible for some serious organizing. There is still a lot of work to do but, I'm looking forward to every moment of it.

This morning I made my first loaf of bread in our new home. Whenever I make bread I always think of the Lord's Prayer.

Give us this day our daily bread.

It was no different for me this morning as I made the first loaf of bread in our new home. I am truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for.

This year is zooming by! 

This year has been a whirlwind! There really isn't a better word to describe it! I simply can't believe that June has arrived and that it has arrived so quickly. Spring thus far as been very mild and very nice but after our current rainy spell the HEAT is due to arrive.

I'm hopeful that the rest of our spring and summer will tick by at a much slower pace.

I'm ready to enjoy some summer time fun!
