Each year on Christmas day, my daughter and I play around on the Snap Chat App. They have the silliest photo filters. Well, this year was no exception.

Coral Limerick Quilt, Machine Quilting, and Friends

This month has been a busy one but a very good one. I was desperate to find someone to machine quilt the memory t-shirt quilt that I was commissioned to make. My regular machine quilter was out of town. I called around to local quilt shops with no luck. Then I remembered my friend, Jo, of the Nob Hill Notions ladies is now a machine quilter. 

She came to my rescue and quilted that quilt in one afternoon. When I picked that quilt up I brought another quilt top that needed machine quilting.

I had the best afternoon reconnecting with my friend.

Jo asked me if I wanted to help her load my quilt on the frame and I jumped at the chance! This is the first time I've gotten to be apart of the process and to watch my quilt being machine quilted. It was amazing and so much fun.

This quilt is the first quilt that I have completed from start to finish in a very long time. This year has not been a very productive quilting year. 

Making this quilt was a labor of love and I was honored to be asked to make it. It felt really good to make something so special and to complete it from start to finish.

The Bear

I've never made anything like this fabric bear. The entire process was very new for me. This bear took an entire weekend to make. Cutting the pattern pieces and fabric out and then joining all the parts and pieces. It was definitely a process.

All in all I think it turned out really well and my friend was very happy with the resulting bear.

Looking back now, I realize I made more than a few gifts to be given this year.

There was the Bear, the Memory Quilt, and these cute Christmas Pillowcases for a friend's grand-children who are visiting for Christmas.

Making these special gifts has made this Christmas even more special.

I began my 61st journey around the sun celebrating my birthday with my daughter. She had made reservations for brunch at a local eatery, The Farmacy.

The location, the food, the cocktails and the company were amazing. As always my children and family made me feel so special with phone calls, cards, gifts, and a bit of shopping.

Each year she hosts, Christmas at her house and every year it is wonderful, relaxed, and joyous!

Poor little Christmas tree ... this is the last year for this little pre-lit tree. Last year the middle section of the tree didn't light up. I purchase a small string of lights and made it work. This year ... none of the lights worked ... not even the small string of lights I bought last year.

I purchased another strand of lights to get me through this Christmas but this is the last year for this little tree. It has served me well.

A Sweet Gift

This year I was commissioned to make two very special gifts for the loved ones of two of my friends.

This bear is made from a shirt of my friend's father who passed away.

The Bear is a gift for her mother who is terminally ill.

I was asked to make this memory quilt for a friend's wife. Their son was killed in an accident 10 years ago on the 16th of December. The quilt is made from t-shirts printed with special photos of their son and the t-shirts and clothing that were special to him.

I was and still am very honored to have been trusted to make these special heart felt gifts.

I'm a December baby, so even though my birthday is the 15th, I begin celebrating on the 1st. For the past 5 years I have been gifted a wonderful Advent Calendar by the Stitch Supply Co.

This gift has become the highlight of each December.
