Anniversary

 Anniversary

Today is the 4th Anniversary of my blog ... it is hard to believe I've been blogging for four years now.

This blog is a history of me ... hahaha!
More a history of my quilt projects with a spattering of everyday life to boot.
I love this space, this format ... I can go to any post and see what I was working on that day. What I was doing or where I was and who I was with.

Quilt Kits

Quilt Kits

This past year I purchased a couple of quilt kits and I have loved making them. It is wonderful having everything you need to make a quilt top. All of the fabrics are chosen and the pattern all in one place ready to go ... one and done so to speak.

I still love making quilts from patterns and then choosing the fabrics but sometimes it is really nice to have a quilt kit ... ready to go!

Amanda of Westwood Acres Fabric puts together amazing quilt kits!

Denim and Lace is the quilt kit that I purchased. The fabrics are spot on!

I don't tend to have a lot of low volume fabrics. As much as love them, I just don't seem to gravitate toward them when I am purchasing fabrics. So for me this quilt kit was perfect. I did add a couple of low volume fabrics that I had ... just to make the quilt project a little more uniquely my own. Because I'm goofy like that!

This quilt pattern uses strip piecing and then cutting of sub-sets. It is all 2.5 inch squares.
What is up with me lately ... I've made several quilts using 2.5 inch squares??
Hummm????

I absolutely love how these blocks are turning out. Just look at all of that low volume fabric goodness!

The lighting in my sewing room is horrible ... and does not do this quilt block justice.
In person this block is just stunning!

Two of Twelve ... making progress ...

Laundry Day

 Laundry Day

I had a wonderful Sunday last weekend. I spent the morning cutting the fabrics for a new quilt project. And, then I spent the afternoon at my daughter's home washing and drying finished quilts.

Yes, I have a washer and dryer but it a front loading stackable set made for apartments. The washer will not wash a quilt ... it makes the load to heavy and shuts the whole system down. Thus the reason for highjacking my daughter's washer and dryer for the afternoon.

One day it is my goal to update my utility room and get a regular full size washer and dryer.

There are two quilts that aren't pictured here and 5 more finished quilts at home that still need to be washed and dried. But, 6 out of 11 is a good start.

I enjoyed the afternoon hanging out with my baby girl, washing and drying my quilts and crocheting.

Denim and Lace

 Denim and Lace

Last Sunday morning I started something new. The Denim and Lace quilt kit that purchased at the beginning of the year.

Amanda of Westwood Acres Fabric put together this amazing kit along with her pattern, Denim and Lace.

I spent Sunday morning in my sewing room cutting the fabrics for this quilt project.

I have purchased 3 of Amanda's patterns,
Denim and Lace
Contemporary
Limerick
I'm waiting patiently to purchase her pattern, Sonnet.
It is my plan to make the four Hogwart's Houses quilts from my Harry Potter fabrics and these four patterns.
Sonnet - Gryffindor
Denin and Lace - Ravenclaw
Contemporary - Hufflepuff
Limerick - Slytherin

Easter Basket 2023 Begins

 Easter Basket 2023 Begins

I'm just working on the basket at the moment. I have an idea for this years basket but that could change.

I enjoy the adventure of making these Easter Baskets each year for my daughter.
Fortunately, my daughter humors my creative whims!

This Guy

 This Guy

This is my fur baby boy.
He loves to be outside.
Just sitting in the yard taking in the sites and sounds.
We've had some beautiful Fall weather this past week and each evening when I get home from work, me and my guy have been enjoying the great outdoors.

All Over The Place

 All Over The Place

Lately, I am all over the place! I'm so excited about Fall. The weather here has been dreamy. All Fall ... cool in the mornings and evenings with highs in the upper 70's ... bright blue skies ... Just Dreamy!

Now that it is sweater weather ... I've been thinking about making this quilt pattern by Elizabeth Hartman.

I started crocheting a basket, which will be the base for my daughter's 2023 Easter Basket.
I like to get organized and started on her Easter Baskets early so that I'm not stressed out come Easter time.

I haven't crocheted anything in a while now. I had forgotten how beautiful my yarn bowl is. My daughter, of Sage Pottery, made this beautiful yarn bowl for me.
I love everything about it ...
1. It is a handmade gift
2. It has such a natural beauty to it
3. She was thinking of me when she made it
4. It makes me happy
I will always treasure this yarn bowl, the look, the touch, the feel of it. It is perfect and I love it.

Hedgehog Progress

 Hedgehog Progress

Last weekend was full of sewing room fun and my high school reunion. Definitely a weekend to remember.

I made progress on my Colorful Hedgehog 💖

The glasses just make it for me ...
These little hedgehog faces are just so cute but when you add the glasses, WOW!

I'm trying to decide on the fabrics for the border(s).
I also have a 10th block that I am making into a pillow.

Thigh measurement 25 inches
Waist measurement 41 inches

It's time to get serious ... my health is at risk carrying all of this excess weight around. My joints, my bones, my heart ... it is time to begin excising regularly and eating cleaner.

Stars and Stripes

Stars and Stripes

I have the most wonderful machine quilter, she sends me progress pictures of my quilts being machine quilt!

I completed this quilt top last year on August 8, 2021
This pattern is by ThimbleBlossoms

I love getting progress photos of my quilts.

For this quilt, I went with stars for the quilting pattern.
I love how dense the quilting is and how petite the stars are.
I enjoyed making this quilt, all of the flags were pieced from fabrics that I had in my stash. I did have to purchase the teal background and sashing fabric.
