Strolling Through My Photos

 Strolling Through My Photos

I was strolling through my camera feed on my phone ... I really am obsessed with Red/White quilts.

I'm going to share a few of my Red/White quilt creations with you. It is sort of fascinating to see them all in one place.

It is crazy to see all of these creations in one place. I do love red/white quilts and pillows but I hadn't realized how much until I started looking through my photos on my phone.

Some of these quilts have been gifted, some have been sold, some have been donated, some are still in progress awaiting quilting and/or binding, but most of them are being used and enjoyed right here in my home.

Double Dip Quilt and A Little Sock Knitting

Double Dip Quilt and A Little Sock Knitting

I am really enjoying the process of making my Red/White Double Dip quilt. I'm hopeful that I will be able to finish piecing the quilt top this weekend.

I love these blocks ... stacks and stacks of blocks ...
Stacks of red/white blocks

The lighting in my sewing room is horrible ... these blocks are red/white not orange and white.
I love this pattern.

I spent a little time last night sock knitting. Changing it up a bit. It is so relaxing to work on a pair of socks. So last night I worked on my current pair of socks and listened to Harry Potter on Audible. It was a very nice evening.

Red/White Double Dip Quilt

 Red/White Double Dip Quilt

Lately, I have been very fascinated with traditional quilts, I have several older quilt books and there is a few instagram accounts that showcase traditional "vintage" quilts.

The colors ... the patterns ... are just stunning.

On our snowy Saturday I started a quilt project called Double Dip. I came across the pattern on Karile Oaks website http://www.kairleoaks.com

Snowy, windy, and chilly outside ...

An entire weekend with no place to be ... except warm and snug in my sewing room working on this beautiful red/white quilt creation ...

Cutting ... lots and lots of cutting ... strips and subsets ...

and a crazy ton of little stacks!!!

It is a process ... a process that I love!!

The first 5 blocks I pieced incorrectly .... ugh!
So ... a fair bit of seam ripping too!

One Of My Favorite Things

One Of My Favorite Things ...

I enjoy eating out, having dinner or brunch with family and/or friends. I enjoy the atmosphere, good food and drink, people watching, and the good company of family and friends.

One of the things I love the most is having dinner with my daughter. She has grown up to be a wonderful, interesting, and charming person. I love spending time with her and learning the woman she has become.

Gin cocktails with dinner at Nama's

We both love sushi and recently our favorite sushi place is no longer serving sushi! So on Friday evening we tried a new sushi spot, Nama. It was delicious and we also enjoyed these beautiful gin cocktails with our dinner.

It was a lovely evening!

I finally got a plant into my front porch planter.

Freshening up my carport planter ... Spider Plant

 Pretty Spring Daffodils!

I am so proud of the gardening progress that I made over the weekend. I am planting things that I know that I will eat. This years garden is more about learning how to garden. Last year my backyard garden was an epic fail but I learned that some things just can't be grown in a container ... they need a garden in the ground. I'm excited about my little backyard garden.

Red / White Orphan Block Quilt #1

 Red/White Orphan Block Quilt #1

Here is my first red/white orphan block quilt. I just got it back from my longarm quilter.

This quilt started out as a Wonky Star quilt and then I got bored.
Red/White Orphan Block Quilt #1
60 x 60 inches

I then decided that I should make a sampler quilt and embroidered these two blocks (see pictures above and below). Again I got bored. I embroidered these blocks at Shelby's house.

Sometimes it is like that for me in my sewing room. I suppose it is like every thing ... trial and error. That is why I alway have orphan blocks. One of the great things about red and white quilt blocks is that they make beautiful Red/White Quilts.
I love Red/White Quilts!

Stack-O-Quilt

 Stack-O-Quilts

I love getting quilts back from my longarm quilter! She does amazing work! I am always so excited to get my quilts back.

There are three sewing my stash quilts, one red/white quilt, and one QAL quilt in this beautiful stack. Hours and hours of sewing room bliss in this cute little stack of quilts.

Candy Crush 2.0
@sewhungryhippie pattern and 2021 QAL
This quilt is my 2021 Halloween quilt. I've never been much of a holiday themed quilt person but for that last couple of years I have made a Halloween themed quilt.
2020 - Ghosts!
2021 - Candy Crush 2.0 - Skull

It feels really great to get these quilts quilted and finished. I feel like some of these quilts have been on my Completed Quilt Tops list for a very long time. Out of the 22 completed quilt tops on that list - 9 are now done. Just 13 more to go! My only sewing room goal for 2022 is to finish all of the quilts on my completed quilt tops list. I will have 22 finished quilts in 2022!

I finished hand quilting my Modern Maple Leaf quilt this year, which was a huge goal for me. I have been working on that quilt since 2016!
WOW!!

Red / White Orphan Block Quilt 2

 Red/White Orphan Block Quilt 2

Red/White Orphan Block Quilt 2
70 x 72 inches

This one has been a labor of love. Full of orphan blocks from projects that never made it to completion ... meaning I lost interest in making the intended quilt. There are also test blocks and a leftover blocks from other red/white quilt projects.

I love this chaos!

Coffee Cozies and an Old Favorite Shirt

Coffee Cozies and an Old Favorite Shirt

Yesterday morning I spent some time in my sewing but I also cleaned out a closet and now have 4 bags of clothing and shoes for the Goodwill ...

Anywho ... I came across an old shirt that I've held on to for years because I love the fabric. Granted I haven't worn the shirt in years but I just couldn't seem to part with it.

I love this print! Since I was going to be donating it anyway ... I thought ... I will cut it up and use it in my current sewing project.
Coffee Cozies for my sister's birthday gift.

I love it when a plan comes together. My sister requested I make her some of these Coffee Cozies for her birthday this year.
This is a free pattern by Natalie @sewhungryhippie on Instagram.
I love Natalie's energy, positivity, and her many patterns.

One of the cozies has the old shirt fabric for the outer cover and one has the old shirt fabric as the interior fabric.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Bowl-o-rama!!!

 Bowl-o-rama!!!

My second love ... is bowling!

It is hard to believe that I started bowling in our local Tuesday night social bowling league in October of 2019. Two and a half years of bowling fun. We are headed into our 8th league season. There are 4 league seasons per year. There are 9 weeks per season, with the final evening being the playoffs between the top 8  teams. It is so much fun! Last year my mom gave me her bowling ball and my bowling average is around 120 pins per game.

Our team, Lucky Strikes, begins Season 8 on March 22nd!
