Glow Ya Little Glow Worm ... Shimmer, Shimmer II

 Glow Ya Little Glow Worm

... Shimmer, Shimmer II

A progress report

Blocks completed from the first Shimmer quilt that I made.

At this point every surface in my sewing room is covered in every piece of Tula Pink fabrics that I own.

It's magical!

Sorting through my Tula Pink stash. Sorting and coordinating fabrics into colorful block combinations.

One of the happiest places on earth for me is in my sewing room with fabrics scattered about. I can do this for hours and hours.

49 blocks are required for the size of quilt that I am making, so I have spent quite a bit of time cutting the fabrics needed for this project.
This makes my brain feel good and my heart very very happy.

 Halloween Shirt 2024

My 2024 Halloween shirt 🎃
A sweet friend at work made this shirt for me. She also made my 2023 Halloween shirt 🎃 Which is the exact same shirt ... minus Pee Wee.
I love this so much!

BREAD

BREAD

I'm becoming more and more comfortable in my bread making. I believe that I have perfected the artisan loaf baked in my dutch oven.

I believe it is time to start branching out and begin making different breads.
Sourdough, white bread loaves, yeast rolls ...

I think I am ready

Getting Things Done

 Getting Things Done

This year has been a year of getting the things done that I have needed to do for years now.

Yesterday, I took a vacation day in order to get things done.

It seems that I am at the age where I forget just about everything. i.e. no long term memory! I decided to write the tasks that I needed/wanted to get done on post it notes and posted them on my dashboard. As I completed them I removed the posted note ... and was on to the next.

This worked perfectly for me ... I will be doing this again and again!

This made for a very productive day for me! I'm proud of all that I was able to accomplish.

Shimmer II

 Shimmer II

I made this quilt for my daughter a few years ago, in Tula Pink fabrics. The pattern is written by Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew.

Since then I have dreamed and planned to make a Shimmer quilt in Tula Pink fabrics for my own personal quilt collection.

In May when I purged and cleaned my house and sewing room, I found a few blocks that I had cut out but had not needed to finish my daughter's quilt.

That is when I decided that it was time to start working on my own Shimmer quilt.

I love how this block comes together and it looks more difficult and complex than it really is. Allison's pattern is written beautifully and is very easy to follow.

As it turned out I had 5 blocks cut and ready to piece from the making of my daughter's Shimmer quilt. I actually love that my quilt will have blocks from my daughter's quilt incorporated into it.

Sage Pottery

 Sage Pottery

I love this ...

A few years ago my daughter and I took a pottery class at Mighty Mud. We made a plate, a bowl, and a cup.
My daughter continued with pottery classes. She is very talented. She now creates pottery under the name, Sage Pottery.
The vase pictured above is a gift from her. The lego flowers were in my Easter Basket this year.
