Another Hedgehog

 Another Hedgehog

This one is a bit more colorful than the Red/White Hedgehog quilt I made many moons ago. Also the block size is smaller. I made the large block size this time instead of the gigantic block size. And WOW ... all of the colors!

Block #1 - these colors, I just love them.

Block #2 - these little faces, I just love them.
I pieced the first two blocks last weekend - each block pieced from start (cutting out the pieces) to finish (piecing the entire block). I did this because I wasn't sure if I would like the results (my fabric choices). Fun Fact: this is how orphan block quilts begin ... sometimes after making a couple of blocks, I realize my color choices aren't the best or I just don't like piecing the blocks.

Yesterday I spent the morning cutting out all of the fabrics for the remaining blocks.
Look at those little faces.
After cutting all of the fabric pieces, I began chain piecing the faces.

The hedgehog spines are a bit tricky but I was able to complete the spines for 4 of my colorful hedgehog babies.

After piecing each block ... I think , "This one if my favorite!"
hahahahaha!!!

Then I piece another block and I think, "No ... this one is my favorite!"
hahahahaha!!!

The beautiful bundle of fabrics that I'm using for the hedgehog spines I purchased at a KMQG "yard sale" for lack of a better word. I purchased this cute bundle from Mrs. Pat and I've long since lost the tag with the specifics about the maker and line of this fabric. All of the solid color fabrics are KONA and there's a splash of Giucy Giuce by andover as well.

I'm having a glorious time making these colorful little hedgehogs!
All of these colors just make me happy!

I'm looking forward to another fun day in my sewing room with all of these cute colorful faces.

It's Been A Week!!!

 It's Been A Week!

Nothing serious ... I'm ready for Fall, for cooler temperatures and shorter days. I'm tired of the heat and the humidity. UGH!!

I'm ready for fire pit time, sweaters, and all of the holidays ... Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years!

As much as I'm ready for a change in season I'm thankful for the constants in my life. These precious little fur babies.

A regular Wednesday evening at my local Mexican restaurant.

And, of course, my sewing room ... my happy happy place.

Possibilities

 Possibilities

Fabric crayons ... all of the colors ... all of the possibilities! For me, there is so much joy in rummaging through my fabric stash. Considering old and new patterns ... and starting a new quilting project.

I made this quilt a few years ago and my sister fell in love with it. So she bought it from me. Not only is my sister my biggest fan and cheerleader ... she's also my best customer.
She supports my quilting habit!

I purchased the printed fabrics from a friend in our local modern quilt guild.
I fell in love with that little fat quarter bundle.

I've wanted to make a Hazel Hedgehog quilt for myself and I want it to be very very colorful.
The first one I made, is in Red/White fabrics.
This one is going to be CRAZY WITH COLOR!!!

Just look at that amazing stack of fabric crayon colors!
My heart is so happy!

The first hedgehog block ... I'm so happy!

Hedgehog block # 2

It just gets better! This quilt is going to be a fun one! What am I saying ... to me, they are all fun!!!

hahahahaha!

Backings - Easy Patchwork QAL with Sew Hungry Hippie

 Backings

I'm on a roll ... there have been some great fabric sales going on lately!

Easy Patchwork Quilt A Long

I joined this QAL (quilt a long) last year. I end up with a lot of fabric scraps and this seemed like a perfect way to use some of them.

Natalie at sewhungryhippie.com is so inspiring.

Backings

I'm always on the lookout for clearance fabric sales mostly for yardage for backings for my completed quilt tops. It is rare that I spend more than $5.00 a yard for backing fabric yardage. I'm not saying that I haven't spent more but as a rule of thumb I try to keep cost down when choosing yardage for backing fabrics.

The search for backing fabrics is made a bit more difficult by the added rule of keeping cost down and my need to stick with the theme of the quilt top, but I love the challenge!

Legendary

 Legendary

Pattern by, Elizabeth Hartman

I purchased this pattern as a kit which included all of the fabrics need to complete the quilt top. I'm presently on the hunt for the perfect backing fabric.

I started working on this quilt back in April.

I spent an entire Sunday afternoon in April just cutting out the pieces needed to make this quilt.

I've made a couple of Elizabeth Hartman's patterns and for it keeping the pieces organized is a must. I use index cards to keep things organized.

I will admit that this pattern has more "pieces" than the other patterns of her's that I have completed.

😳😳😳

In May I lost steam piecing the trees ... and put the project away for a couple of months.

So many trees ... but my daughter encouraged me to get this project back on the design wall and get it finished!

There are lots of little pieces in the Bigfoot block but I enjoyed watching him come to life.

Bigfoot in his forest home!

Once all of the blocks were made ... the sashing and borders were a breeze.

Puttering

 Puttering

The in-between ... puttering ... that place where you are just puttering around in your sewing because you don't know what to start ... or to finish ... next.

I always seem to have some red/white quilt blocks going. A couple of weeks ago I picked up this orphan star from the Quilts of Valor booth at the local quilt show. I knew I wanted to use it on one of my orphan block quilts. Over the weekend I sewed this little star on one of my orphan blocks. I didn't want to lose that little star. ☆☆☆

I started this quilt project a while back ... and just lost interest.

This is a free pattern by Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew
Here's the link ...
https://cluckclucksewshop.com/collections/all-patterns/products/stay-home-quilt-pattern-free

It's a great pattern ... I just lost interest but I revisit these little blocks when I'm in-between quilt project and just puttering around in my sewing room. Eventually I will have enough blocks for a quilt top.
Sometimes ... that's just how it works.

I have the most wonderful longarm machine quilter!

Her name is Sharon and I am never ever disappointed with her work. Sharon is the one who takes my quilts to the next level! Not only is Sharon a wonderful quilter, she is also my friend. It is a win win!

These 3 quilts are presently at Sharon's for machine quilting ...
